Anna Apinis is a Latvian weaver who came to Australia in 1950. This fabric length was an experimental piece for Anna. It combines traditional Latvian patterns indicative of the Zemgale region from which she comes but utilises a contemporary colour scheme. It was woven on a hand made draw loom using 11 shafts. The loom was constructed in Memmingen, Germany while at the Displaced Persons Camp in 1948.
