Sketch of route from Balranald to Scot's Station, roughly drawn by dead reckoning.

In his third report Becker describes in detail the route the Burke and Wills expedition travel in September 1860 between Balranald and Arumpo, New South Wales.

Notes on the map describe the vegetation and soil types. "The whole country a sandy loam, the greater part covered with Casuarina, Mallee, Pine, stunted Eucalypts etc; patches of good feeding ground every where, and large plains with grass, salt bush, porcupine grass, etc. do not indicate the absence of water."

Becker's description is contained in his Third Report which can be read at Burke and Wills Web.
