Jack Thompson discusses the last days of Burke, Wills and King at Cooper’s Creek. He discusses the assistance given to the expedition by the indigenous people, their use of nardoo and how it was prepared; nardoo and vitamin B deficiency. He also describes how he prepared for his role as Burke by watching film of other long distance expeditioners.

Dried specimens of nardoo and grinding stones were brought back to Melbourne after the Burke and Wills Expedition and are held at the State Library of Victoria as is a botanical illustration of the nardoo plant published in 1862.
