This sketch was made a few days after the expedition left Melbourne. It shows the heavily burdened wagons, horses and camels travelling through the Victorian country-side south of the present town of Heathcote.
Environmental issues along the Burke and Wills Track in Victoria include woody weeds such as European broom, gorse, blackberries, lack of understory vegetation, foxes and this years potential locust plague.
