Several months after he died, Burke's body was found under this coolibah tree, now the home of small corellas and red-rumped parrots. Under its shade, Dr Jonathan King reflects on the death of Robert O'Hara Burke.

From the time the the explorer's body was found the tree became an important memorial. Click here for a photograph taken in the late 1880s.
