Established in 1968, Ararat Regional Art Gallery has a unique place amongst Australia's public galleries, through its longstanding commitment to supporting and promoting textile and fibre art - a curatorial and collection focus that began in the early 1970s.
Our CollectionThe collection comprises approximately 300 items, plus 550 items of costumes and 192 items of Japanese packaging. Key sub-collections include fabric prints donated by textile design pioneer Frances Burke, the Lady Barbara Grimwade Costume Collection (a survey of fashion design from 1956 to 1989) and textile, fibre and leather objects from the Victorian State Craft Collection held on long term loan.
