About Culture Victoria (CV)

CV enables Victorian cultural organisations to bring their collection objects and resources together in the form of stories. CV content tends to be media rich, and most objects can be 'maximised' to high resolution formats.

CV was developed as part of the Victorian Cultural Network (VCN) project, a collaboration between State agencies, managed by Arts Victoria, and supported by the Victorian Government through Arts Victoria and the Community Support Fund.

About the VCN

Established in 2003 (as the Cultural Broadband Network) with funding from Victoria's Community Support Fund, VCN Stage 1 established technical infrastrucutre, an organisational context for collaboration between Victorian arts and cultural agencies, and new digital content and services, including the CV website.

The project received a second tranche of funding in 2007 and will run through to 2010-2011. VCN Stage 2 focuses on:

  •  Digitisation for education and community users

  • Interconnection of the VCN with the Victorian education network, VicSmart

  • VCN content partnerships with selected Victorian metro-regional cultural organisations

  • Establishing cross-agency search functionality

  • Capacity building for VCN members and content partners
